Play, Learn And Grow With Wooden Educational Toys

A child who is playing with a toy, some might argue, is a child learning. Nevertheless, many parents and experts maintain that wooden educational toys are the best toys to teach children when compared to plastic toys.

Wooden toys offer many benefits to the consumer. A quality wooden toy is durable enough to withstand decades of play. Before too long what was once a toy might become a treasured family heirloom.

Wooden toys are much more earth friendly than plastic toys. Wood is an earthly phenomenon, whereas plastic is a human endeavor. This signifies that wooden toy production has a gentler impact on the environment and produces less waste, making a healthier world for all the world’s inhabitants. However, the healthy benefits of wooden toys do not end with the environment.

Many wooden toys come untreated or are finished with non-toxic paints. In comparison, recent studies indicate that some plastics can have harmful effects on human health. In addition, wood has antibacterial properties, in fact, a wooden toy in the same room as a plastic toy is said to have less germs. This is important to many parents who understand that their infants chew on toys as often as they touch them.

Die Cast Model Cars Are Valuable Collectors Items

The idea that die cast model cars are valuable collectors items is probably true, since they have been classed as collectibles since the 1930s. In 1934, Dinky Toys brought out die cast metal toy cars, which presumably parents brought for little boys, who grew up to be men who still liked the cars, and turned play into collecting.

Anyway, contrast these collectibles with Beanie Babies, which turned out to be a fad. Nowadays you see them mainly in thrift shops, not in display cases or mounted on lamp stands. You do see die cast cars in thrift shops, but they are segregated and individually priced, not thrown in with other small toys as the cute little baby animals are.

Why collect car models? Well, why collect anything? You either get it or you don’t. But collecting these little (3″) or not so little cars (10″ – 12″) does make sense to a lot of people. To begin with, they may have started as toys, but they soon developed in to scale models, or miniaturized representations of actual vehicles. They are true to life in proportion and detail, thereby rising above the toy level to the distinction of true models.

Each entry in the series has been amongst the best shooters ever developed. As gaming collectibles go, Halo figures have become hot items for many people.

The player’s character, Master Chief, is at the forefront of the near-apocalyptic action. Building Restoration, With Lego

Hundreds of buildings and monuments across the world have received unexpected repair work from an unlikely source. From banks to bridges and statues to stations, German artist Jan Vormann has been revamping surfaces with the popular building blocks, Lego.

After revealing the idea at a 2007 arts fair in Rome, Vormann has travelled the world in an attempt to (symbolically) save many of the world’s historical buildings from decay with his brightly coloured version of polyfiller. He often seeks the permission of local authorities before working in a city to avoid vandalism charges. Although he works alone, he often receives help from eager passers by to painstakingly place the little blocks in cracks, missing bricks and even bullet holes.

Vormann, 26, has used thousands of the little Danish building blocks to highlight the demise of our iconic structures in a positive attitude. Passers by have noted that although he brings to your attention the fact that these buildings are not what they used to be, for whatever reason, he fills that void with colour, joy and nostalgic childhood memories. “My work draws attention to the smallest parts of our cities that are falling apart because of the brightness of the Lego. It draws people’s attention through the coloured blocks and makes them aware that this wall or statue or construction is not complete anymore.”

Although the shower was reported to be a small celebration with 25 guests, Klum splurged and made the event a great one. Heidi Klum gave each of her guests a posh tote full of fine beauty products, a boutique gift certificate, and Victorias Secret pajamas; she made her baby shower all about giving, instead of receiving.

The History Of Action Figures (Not Dolls!)

For most of us boys, we remember fondly the favorite action figures of our youth. In fact, most of us have probably gone back and started collecting the ones we grew up with. Which ones, exactly, you grew up with, depends entirely upon when you grew up. If you were around in the sixties, you were probably a big fan of GI Joe. The seventies, Star Wars. If you came about in the eighties, you probably loved He-Man, the Ninja Turtles, or The Ghostbusters, and for you youngsters who were kids in the nineties, it was all about Dragon Ball Z.

Most recently, the market has been catering more and more towards the adult collector, but let’s be honest, anyone who refuses to open the box and play with them now and then is a stick in the mud.

The term action figure came about in the sixties when Hasbro discovered that few boys were willing to play with their GI Joe “dolls”. Hence, action figure. This would prove to be a nice, masculine euphemism.

Yes, they’re still, essentially, dolls, but by calling them figures, boys are less hesitant to pick them up. The ploy worked, and these toys became some of the most popular items for boys to collect.

Ant Farms Are Educational Fun For The Whole Family

If you are looking for an activity to teach your child a sense of responsibility, an ant farm could be the perfect solution. There are a ton of ways your child can benefit from owning their own ant farm. But first, you should understand what an ant farm is exactly.

Ant farms are pretty much self explanatory. In the beginning, ant farms were built with two pieces of glass with soil stored in between for the ants habitat. These days, they have developed into larger forms which provide great ecosystems for the ants.

There is a big variety of different ant farms on the market today. Most of which are kits that you assemble yourself. You may not want to build the ant farm yourself, but it can be a project that the whole family can enjoy.

Ant farm kits include everything you need to setup up the farm, including instructions on how to maintain your new kit. Many of the brands available give your children several options when setting it up.

Most of the farms available these days are three dimensional, this will provide the ants with enough room to build winding tunnels and chambers that your child will observe for hours.
